It is the "location, location, location" within walking distance to "Central Park, Carnegie Hall, Times Square, Fifth Avenue shopping" and the subway that sells this otherwise "average" Midtown spot; though rooms are "spacious" enough with flat-screen TVs, there are signs ("peeling wallpaper" and "broken" fixtures) that it needs "updating", the staff "looks unhappy" and the combination of "tourist crowds" and walls with "no soundproofing whatsoever" mean lightsleepers aren't getting much shut-eye.

Room not cleaned during stay. Room hot no thermostat.

This has to be one of the worst hotels I have stayed in. Dirty grout around bath, dirty marks on walls. Poor lighting, drapes hanging down. Room very hot and no thermostat, with window open it was draughty and noisy. Overall grubby. Construction going on and hallways very dusty. ...read more

They helped us with an early arrival.
No air conditioning or temperature control.

The appearance of the room was very nice. The temperature extremely too warm. No way to control temperature. We were told to open the window but when we did the outside noise was too much to rest.

Very few elevators worked - took long time to access.

There was a ton of construction going on around the perimiter of the hotel all hours of the night. Even with windows closed, it made it difficult to sleep. The lobby was impressive. The location was great.
The room was closer to Holiday Inn than Marriott.

From the pictures on line we expected a nicer room. The room was very average and the bathroom could have been cleaner. One day there was no wash cloth the next there were no hand towels. Had I been paying the normal price I would have complained. I probably should have anyway. ...read more
